County Archives Celebrates American Archives Month with Panel Presentation and Awards Ceremony

County Archives invites residents to a special panel presentation titled “The History of Home: How to Conduct Research using Resources at the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Office.” This free event will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, beginning at 5:00 PM at the East County Office located at 10144 Mission Gorge Road, Santee, CA 92071.

 

In addition, there will be an awards ceremony to recognize the San Diego History Center, County Department of Parks and Recreation, Center for Regional Sustainability at SDSU, Refugee San Diego, and Lambda Archives of San Diego for their outstanding contributions to cultural heritage and historic preservation. The County Archives will also offer a behind-the-scenes tour of the award-winning, LEED Gold Certified facility where they manage, preserve, and make accessible historic County records from 1850 to present day to foster inquiry, critical thinking, and knowledge building in the community.

 

“We are excited to offer this opportunity for residents to delve into the rich history of their homes and neighborhoods,” said Jordan Z. Marks, County Recorder/Assessor/County Clerk of the San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Office. “Our amazing staff along with our expert panel will share valuable tips and resources to help attendees navigate through our records effectively.”
