SANTEE, Calif. – October 25, 2023 —the San Diego County Assessor / Recorder / County Clerk Jordan Z. Marks and guests recently gathered to dedicate the East County Archives Reading room to the Honorable Ernest J. Dronenburg, Jr.

Ernie Dronenburg has served the people of San Diego County for over 50 years. Most recently, he served as the San Diego County Assessor / Recorder / County Clerk from 2010-2022. Ernie also served as the Chair of the State Board of Equalization, Chair of the Franchise Tax Board, and the Chair of the San Diego County Board of Education. In 2020, under Ernie's Leadership, the San Diego County Assessor / Recorder / County Clerk's award-winning Archives was built, which now preserves official records dating back to the county’s formation in 1850.

“Ernie is a figure who embodies the epitome of selfless service and unwavering dedication,” said Jordan Marks, County Assessor who succeeded Dronenburg in 2022. “With a professional journey marked by excellence and integrity, Ernie’s five decades of contributions to San Diego County are monumental, echoing the sentiments of respect and admiration shared by all who have had the privilege of working with him. We are honored to dedicate the archive reading room and name it after Ernie.”

By naming the archive reading room in his honor, the San Diego County Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk (ARCC) Office has recognized Ernest J. Dronenburg, Jr. for his lifetime of public service.

“The archives are a testament to Ernie’s commitment to preserving the rich tapestry of the county’s history, and stand as an enduring legacy of Ernie’s contributions,” Marks said.
